Workshop description

Basket weaving is a skill that is almost as old as human history. The taking of fibres from the landscape to create something that is useful, practical and of course beautiful. This is your opportunity to learn the ancient art of basket weaving while using natural fibres such as the drooping branched panicles of the Piccabeen Palm and hand dyed raffia. We will create a small basket, allowing you to learn the basic weaving technique over the two hour workshop. Please feel free to bring along any other natural materials that you might like to include in your basket such as feathers, shells or beads. This two hour workshop includes all weaving materials and an instruction manual. Anita is a keen and knowledgeable nature enthusiast who loves to work with natural materials in her artworks. You can find her on Instagram at @Wonky.Baskets and see her amazing creations and designs. Anita also does nature tours around South East Queensland that take in the sights of our local rainforests, North Stradbroke Island, Mount Mee and Mount Glorious and you can check out her tours at BrisbaneNatureTours.com. Anita has a wealth of information to share so come along, learn how to make a natural basket and listen to her wonderful stories of our great local area.
