Workshop description

Greg, our very own local Brighton Native Bee Specialist, has a passion for keeping and rescuing native bees with over 30 hives in his own wonderful collection. Sharing his love of bees he has written a stunning, easy to read and understand book about everything you need to know to keep these amazing tiny creatures in your garden. During this 1.5 - 2hr information session with Greg you will learn about the different varieties of bees, their busy life cycle, how to make sure you have their hive in the perfect position and much much more. Greg will also be bringing along a hive for you to inspect and take pictures of their intricate workings, and if you are super lucky you may even spot the Queen. This workshop is a must if you have ever wanted to place a hive in your garden, would like to learn more about attracting these bees or are just curious about one of natures most intriguing and busy tiny animals. You will have plenty of opportunities to ask Greg questions as he is keen to share his bee knowledge and show you just how much joy you can get in owning your own hive. Greg will also have copies of his book for sale so make sure you bring $25 in cash to secure your copy. 50% of the proceeds from this workshop will be donated to Sandbag and we will have a collections box so if you would like to bring a grocery item for donation then that would be great however not compulsory. Sandbag distributes food hampers to members of the community in need and these consist of basic supplies such as baked beans, spaghetti, noodles, fruit juice, long life milk, muesli bars and toiletry items like travel sized shampoo, conditioner, razor blades, toothbrush, toothpaste and small deodorant. Any donations will be greatly appreciated.
